Task 9 - Review

Overall, I am happy how the outcome of this project and how I have progressed through this project. With the time management I had a slight issue with the time keeping however even though I ran over by a couple of weeks I am sill happy out the outcome. I made sure I had everything completed in a structured manner by doing this I made sure I had everything done right. In doing this I had some hicks on the way but I managed to get around them easily and swiftly.

I am very pleased with myself as what I have produced, it is very simple, but a slight bit challenging to what I had to create in such small time limit that meant that I couldn’t do anything to complex but I knew that making the animation short and snappy getting straight to the point is far more effective than having something that is long winded. Now that it is finished it all works well mainly because the music I put with it had a soundtrack that fitted the scene.

In doing so I believe that I have met the clients requirements; as the client stated that the key to the animation was the actual logo itself. I feel as I have done this by making the E6 Logo clear and recognizable. The E6 logo is constantly featured in my 30 second sting.

Now that I have completed this unit I feel like I have improved my animation skills, as they are things that I haven’t learnt much of in the past so now that I have completed this unit I believe that the software is becoming more stuck to myself as the stuff I do comes more naturally to me than before. But I now I have learnt tht time management is important and I need to slightly improve on that and when improving that will come very useful for me in the future.

Task 7 - Post Production

Once I had rendered out my short animation into separate frames of images, I had to import them into a software called Adobe Premiere Pro this software is a video editing software that lets me put various videos in and stretch them out shorten them and even add music into it.

Once the images were imported into the software they come up as a video strip as when I rendered it out I set it up to come out as images but in chronological order as it starts from 0 and goes up to 900 frames but because I had two cameras I had to do two separate renders, I also had to import some music to the video and drag it from where it was to the bottom window where the editing was going on.

When editing I had to make it 30 seconds exactly, so when I placed all my videos and sounds into the bottom window I put them into the correct order I wanted it to go in, I used a tool called rate stretch tool which can be found in the tools window next to the editing window. I used this tool to stretch out the video to help make it 30 seconds although this helped me achieve 30 seconds there was a price for it as it became slower than I wanted it so to overcome this I used a different tool called razor tool which can be also found in the tool window which lets me spilt up a video in to segments but all I did was move them around and then go back to the rate stretch tool and make parts in the middle slower than the whole video itself.

With the sound I just had to use the razor tool to shorten the sound itself but within doing this had had  a bit of trouble as the song just stopped at an instance so I used an Audio Transition which makes the song either fade in or fade out so I used this to fade out the song.

Task 6

1)

2)

I started out by placing my city landscape into Layout and placed the E6 logo where I wanted to start my animation from and key framed it at 0 so I knew that's where it will be starting from. I then set up the next key frame at 232 so that would be the first opening scene from where I firs placed the E6 logo. With this opening scene I made the camera parent the E6 logo which makes the camera follow where I move the E6 logo. When I was setting up the lighting in this scene I placed an spot light at the end of the road but dimmed the light making sure that when I rendered it out it still had a dense atmosphere to it.

3)

4)

As the camera is parented to the E6 logo I thought id test what I could do to it as in the screen shots provided the camera goes into the building, I did this because it gives a sense of someone from inside the building is watching the E6 logo go past the building. For all the buildings and the roads I didn't use any textures on them as I wanted to create a dense feeling to the environment, in which i achieved by making a grey colour and when  using the lights I would dim them enough to still see the buildings but not erase the dense atmosphere, I kept the E6 logo a bright blue so it would stand out from the rest of the structures around the environment giving it a sense of importance to the rest of the objects.

5)

6)

In some camera shots I made the camera close up to the E6 logo making sure that the person who is watching it is knows what they are looking at and what it is about. In screen shot number 5 the buildings behind the E6 logo have been lit up as I used a spot light on the E6 logo which lit up the building behind it, by lighting up the logo it helped me show it more important.

Task 2 – Research

Capital FM

Capital FM is a radio station that is based in the south west of England but now it has many radio branches over the country playing music all over the country, this radio station can be found between the conferences 95-106. I found out that Capital FM was first named Galaxy FM and that it was first launched in 1990, On 3 January 2011, The Galaxy Network and The Hit Music Network merged to create Capital.

In 2012 Capital FM released this advert (above), it features modern pop stars that help promote the radio station with each pop star the background changes colour and every line they say is short and snappy, they get right to the point also the colour makes the pop star stand out.

In 2013 Capital FM released another advert but this time instead of being in colour it has been changed into black and white but still has A-List pop stars to help promote the radio station with short lines with each star making it short and snappy.

Key 103

Key 103 is an Independent Local Radio station broadcasting to the city of Manchester and the north west of England. It can be found on the frequencies of 103 only as it is a local independent radio station. It first aired in 1974 under the stations first name which was called Piccadilly Radio and then in 1988 it changed its name to Key 103.

In 2014 Key 103 showed off its advertisement for its summer live which is a concert at an arena in Manchester, this advert features pop stars in the video to grab people’s attention about the concert. Right at the being of the video it starts off by showing their logo so the audience knows who it is straight away and then once the logo is off the screen it goes straight to the point of what the main video is about. In the video they use bright colours to make the text stand out plus they use lights that move around the text which would help drag the attention to what the light is moving around.

In Salford City Colleges there are 3 main colleges; Walkden college, Eccles Sixth Form college and Pendleton College.

Eccles Sixth Form Centre’s in house professional broadcasting suite provides students with an outlet to broadcast music based radio programming around college via E6 Radio.

Students on the BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production course use the suite and E6 radio station to produce coursework in music based programming, news production for radio and commercial production for radio.
